A project groups the tasks of one job or team. Here is how to set one up and work with its tasks.
Create a project #
Click Create project, or press N and then P. Only the Project name is required. The other steps are optional, such as Client and billing or Budget.
The project key is used in task IDs, for example WEB-123.
Add a task #
- Press C, or on the board click + in a column header.
- Enter the task title. Add a description, status, priority, assignee, dates and labels if you need them.
- Click Create Task. To add several tasks in a row, turn on Create more.
Choose a view #
- Board: drag tasks between columns.
- List: see tasks one under another.
- Gantt and Calendar: show tasks that have a start date or due date.
- Backlog: holds planned and archived tasks.
Change the columns #
You can change the board’s columns in the project settings under Workflow. To add a new one, click Add column.
Search and filter #
Find tasks with Search tasks. Filter narrows them down by status, priority, assignee, due date or labels.
Work inside a task #
- Sub-tasks: split a larger task into smaller parts.
- Comments: talk with colleagues right on the task.
- Repeat: on each repeat day a copy of the task is created in the first column, due that day. The description, assignee, labels and custom fields are copied.
Tidy up finished tasks #
Right-click a task card and choose Archive. Archived tasks are in the Backlog.
Delete… removes a task permanently and can’t be undone.
