Forecasts show you where project budgets are heading and how much the team will earn in the coming months.
Both forecasts come with the Business package. Members with the See amounts permission find them under Planning.
Give a project a budget #
In the project’s settings, open Finance → Budget. Choose a budget in Hours or in money (Amount), enter the Budget amount and pick the Budget period: Whole project or Per month. Admins get a notification at 80% and 100%.
Budget forecast #
Under Planning, open Budget forecast. You see every budgeted project at once, the riskiest on top. The forecast is what’s used plus the open tasks’ remaining work spread up to their due dates, as in the team workload.
- Burn: the bar shows how much of the budget is used and where the forecast takes it.
- Left: how much of the budget remains.
- Runs out: the day the budget is used up if the plan holds. Within means the plan fits, and below it you see how much of the budget isn’t planned yet.
- Tasks without an estimate or due date: a warning under the project’s name. These tasks skew the forecast, so give them an estimate and a due date.
The Going over budget tile on top counts projects whose forecast is above the budget. Just under budget are projects with a forecast above 90% of the budget.
Revenue forecast #
Under Planning, open Revenue forecast. You see billable amounts for the last two months and this one, and the expected amounts for the next 6 months.
- Logged: billable time at the assignees’ rates. A fixed-price project earns in step with the share of work done; a retainer earns the same each month.
- Planned: amounts from open tasks’ estimates and due dates, and from bookings in the team plan.
- Tentative: tentative bookings, shown separately.
- Deals (weighted): deals not won yet. Their value is multiplied by the probability and spread over the months the work would run.
Above the chart you switch tabs:
- Clients: amounts by client and month.
- Profit: revenue, cost, profit and margin. Members with the See profit permission see it.
- Capacity: team utilization and billable utilization by month. When the team is short of capacity, you see how many hours are missing.
